This month ‘We Need to Talk about The Kev’, my third English-language album, was released on all platforms. The launch night is set for May 26th, and I expect a future re-release will contain between-song skits that I have already finished.
Activities
Upon the release of the album, I have given multiple interviews. These include interviews with Planet Singer
I also launched a stealth – albeit not that stealthy because I am announcing it here - marketing campaign for my songs with stickers containing lyrics and logo.
Output
As well as releasing the latest The Kev album, I have created a playlist of instrumentals, which may be my best work yet.
This month’s miscellaneous movie soundtrack was the theme from ‘Terminator 2’.
Wider World
This month saw the twenty-fifth anniversary of The Good Friday Agreement, which brought an end to The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Joe Biden made the most significant visit to Ireland of any United States president since Bill Clinton in the nineties.
After Brexit, peace in the region is at the flimsiest it has been this century. In a speech, Biden dangled the possibility of massive U.S investment in the region in exchange for continued power-sharing that would maintain relative stability. This determination to leave the past far behind reminds me of a poem by Belfast native Alan Gillis:
‘Progress’ by Alan Gillis
They say that for years Belfast was backwards
and it’s great now to see some progress.
So I guess we can look forward to taking boxes
from the earth. I guess that ambulances
will leave the dying back amidst the rubble… the rest is here
